  1. COMMENT: I find it interesting how they have to stand outside early in the morning and listen to there head mistress to get announcements and information. When in America at Overbrook high school we come in our 1st period class and just sit down and listen to announcements.

QUESTION: Why do they call they call the lady in charge of the school the headmistress instead of principle? what is the difference ? if there is one.

FACT: Ghana is the first sub-Saharan country to gain its independence from Britain in 1957.

  2. They have a very unique school system as opposed to the way I been raised and what people in the United States are accustomed to. For you to witness and experience this is very exciting I wish I could visit Ghana one day and live how they do for a couple of days.

If Schools starts at 7:00 am what time does school end ? What happens if you cant make it at 7:00 am. ?

People in Ghana are spiritual and have beliefs, 63% is Christian , 16% is Muslim and 21% have indigenous beliefs...

  3. Comment: I admire the sutdents obediance to their headmistress and prefects, the studet leaders at Overbrook don't even have that much respect. I cant imagine overbrook with 1600 students that would do that.

Question: Are there after school activities like there are here?

    1. Yes, they do have school activities. While there, I met with the editorial board of the annual magazine, the board of their civic group, the choir met with us and I foget the name of the other group.

  4. Comment:In the first photo I notice how the girls are either standing with their hands in front or behind them has they listen to the announcements given by the headmistress. I find the way they are standing is neat; especially in a straight line.

question:Were the two prefects standing beside the headmistress prefects for the entire school or just for their grade and were there prefects for all other grades?

  5. How long do they have to stand out there and listen to the headmistress?

It is nice that they listen and have obedience.

The population of Ghana is well over twenty million with the capital city, Accra, being the most densely populated.
