Church in the morning!

Glory in the morning as we march with girls bringing and waving our palms. A band accompanies the singing and rejoicing another day of life.

A full school assembly's outdoors palms then following a Catholic Church service. Imagine communion for almost 1600 girls. Non-catholic girls who attend the school do not have to take communion.

Finally, our other USA baby - Claudia. Sent to Ghana by her Ghanaian father.
I will continue to talk with her while here. She is not happy to be here and says it is much harder to get good grades. Nor does have like all the rules she must follow at a boarding school. She's been in Ghana for 3 years.

Check the blog later to get the video version of this morning. I give more photos, the sounds, the conversations. Hold on more later...

They look so happy to be together.
I would like it if it was nice down here.
I think its good that y'all care about school.

If they had a chance to visit somewhere out of the country, would they come to Philadelphia??

  2. COMMENT: If i was the girl Claudia who was sent to Ghana by her father i would be so afraid and sad because its like a whole other world you have to adapt to. Especially coming from a America where there is rules But they are not as strict. And in America you are able to express yourself how ever you like through clothes, hair, words, and ECT.

Question: Why do they all have to where dresses? do the girls ever wear jeans ? or something different that will set them apart from the other girls besides there looks and personality?

    FACT:
Ghana loves soccer and they even built a large soccer stadium in the capital of Accra. Soccer is the national sport.

  5. I cant imagine how it would feel walking in a crowd so huge. A crowd full of people from the motherland. My brothers and sisters. Im guessing it would feel like im home.Being surronded by people who look like me.

Was it awkward for them to be around Americans?
Awkward by it not being something there use to. Not everyone has the oppurtunity to travel to Africa to see and experience what you seen. I feel that you did the most in your trip there. I can tell from your pictures on the blog that you enjoyed yourself.

  7. Comment: I like the fact that Claudia was willing to take a photo with you Ms Breese and not worry about her hair being cut off. For example here in America girls need to fix and comb their hair before taking a picture.

Question: Can they work outside of the school to gain money for themselves to spend on personal things?

Fact: Ghana borders with Ivory Coast, burkina Faso and Togo.

  8. They looked really happy and positive and it looked like a long walk. If were there I probably wouldn't look as happy I would look the exact opposite. I would want to vacation there but I wouldn't be prepared to go and live. Fact:They (Ghanaian's) play a lot of different sports but soccer is very popular sport in Ghana.

Question:Why do there palms look so fresh and green and ours look so dried up?

  9. In Ghana the girls seem very happy to go to church and worship a God. I like that the Ghanian girls was not afraid to dance in front of each other with no problem. They also encourage and support eachother as they danced. I would like to visit Ghana one day.

Do they ever get tired of wearing dresses?

Fact: Ghana is divided into small groups that together speak more than 50 languages.

  11. comment : If that is Claudia in the photo she looks happy to be taking a picture with you. However, you can see the pain in her face.

question : Was that Claudia in the photo?

fact : Ghana has its own natural rainforest in the form of the Kakum National Park.
